Hi. I have always been passionate about English and because of this my essays are always too long. I'm currently doing AQA Lit B and writing my comparative essay on 1984 and The Handmaid's Tale. I have an A from AS (I got full marks in the coursework last year). My word count currently stands at 3383 words, not including quotations from the texts. I have had a first draft marked and I received ticks in the highest band for all the AOs. None of my coursework is waffle. Cutting down more than I already have would mean losing from my points. I am unsure of what I should do for the best - how strict are they on word counts? I need to get an A in this to get into my chosen uni. Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.

2000 words is the limit. I think you are allowed up to 10% extra (so 200 words) but I'm not 100% certain.

You're going to have to get get rid of 1000 words at least I'm afraid!
