Went to compare notes with a midwife to be friend of mine last night and coz there's so few of them the info they've been given is soooo much better and in depth. One main thing she told me was that she'd heard that if you're South of the river and having to travel quite a way then you get a payment from the Uni direct to help with costs.......? She also said that the reason they want you all to car share and want to know names up front is coz they won't have to pay you so much if you're down as car sharing. She told me to pass this on to everyone and even if you DO end up car sharing - which I'm hoping to do - DO NOT admit it to them, do this behind their backs so to speak and then you'll get the full payment ....? Anyone else heard this? She also said her 1st placement starts on the 14th Nov out in the community (I didn't realise it was so soon :/) Uniform-wise apparently we get 2 options: 1) 5 x Tunics and trousers or 2) 4 x Tunics and trousers and 1 dress - but you can apparently order extra's but have to pay for them yourself.
OMG we start TOMORROW arrrggghhh ))) See ya there xx

Hi everyone that's hoping to start nursing this sept 2012. I need your advice from all you lovely mature students, I just recently got married last year (im 26 my husband 28) and I keep getting told im wasting my talent if I don't go to Hull University and do my nursing degree, this is coming from other health professionals other nurses and specialist Doctors I have come across. I am currently stuck as to what I should do Hull uni have already told me I have the grades to get onto the course but my other concern is my husband and i would like to start a family possibly next year. Would you go for family first or career. I have a new job as a carer with the council so I have better job prospects for now but I don't quiet feel like I have found myself yet.
Any advice greatly appreciated

Hi! I'm a first year student nurse with Hull Uni.
I'm guessing your all second year SN's. This is a very random question and a long shot as I figure not many of you use this anymore. But here goes, I'm about to start placement but I just had an operation (a few days ago) and I can't stand the rubbing from the trousers on the incisions, I was wondering if any of the ladies had a spare nursing dress in a size 8 or 10 that I could borrow or buy from them? As the uni supplier has an 8 week back log.
I tried the undoing the trousers but I just loose them :-X.
I know its a long shot but worth a try, as I can't get one with loops and with the writing on elsewhere for 8 weeks and I start on Monday.
Thanks for your time,
