Hi! as mentioned above.. has any students who took edexcel's a level been admitted to any of the 3 universities? I know this sounds like a very stupid question but in my country (not in the EU), there's 2 examination board that provides A level examination (CIE and Edexcel).

And according to what i read in this forum, people usually say that the universities don't actually give a damn about which exam board u applied to but rather your grades. The thing is, they will usually add on "since it's not up to you to choose your examination board, your school chooses it for you." But as a private candidate, i have the option to choose either 1 of the exam boards and honestly, i prefer edexcel BUT i'm afraid that they will take into consideration that i had the option of choosing either CIE or edexcel but i chose the latter, which puts me in a disadvantageous position when compared to other applicants ( they took the papers from the so called easier exam board because they couldn't choose)

But then again, the whole chunk of stuff i said in the previous paragraph wouldn't matter if first tier universities don't secretly prefer 1 exam board over the other.

And I'm not saying that Edexcel is an easy exam board. I'm just concerned after reading threads and threads claiming the disparity in the standards of the exam boards. And of course, i wouldn't really know much as I have never read any of their papers before.

Sorry if I've offended anyone with this post!!!

I did edexcel maths, biology and physics (and OCR chemistry) and got into imperial. It shouldn't make a difference because an A is supposed to be an A for any exam board.

It will make the most minor of differences

And since you asked, I am doing Edexcel for 3 of my 4 A levels, and got offers from Oxford and Imperial

It really doesn't matter. Both have their merits. I took Edexcel and got an Oxford interview, so I'm guessing they must have been fairly pleased with me!
