She is a classy, respected, individual music artist who keeps her music free of abusive language and she has some really cool collaborations. She is a role model for those who are or who may be currently in abusive and domestic situations, perhaps with a boy/girlfriend....

    Why do you like/dislike her?

She just can't sing. She has a stylist that and she takes credit for it. Overall She's an embarrassment as an r'n'b singer.

    Sorry, but WHAT?
Have you not seen or heard her song S&M? She's hardly a role model for the 12 year old girls that also listen to her songs.

Classy? Is that really the right word for her when considering her 'fashion'?

And I suppose singing about S & M is very role model-ish to kids?

Christina Aguilera got tons of complaints about appearing on xfactor in revealing clothes... But Rihanna can perform on the Brit awards before 9pm singing about having some sort of liking to being ABUSED during sex...

    ...just my opinion.

Ok, her music maybe free from "abusive language" but what about the video for "S&M". I thought it'd been banned on youtube!

i love her because she's talented with an amazing voice. she sings extremely well live which shows how good she is. he songs are really catchy too.

people need to get over S&M, like kids even know what it is, i know PLENTY of songs that i sung when i was little having no idea what they were about turning out to be rude and about sex etc., and most boys at least by the time they are 13 are watching porn anyway, and girls are around boys talking about sex etc.

She's over the top now, reliant on style too much. I'm not really into her music anyway, (if you're gonna listen to some pop tracks-Shakira is the answer baby) but she had It right when she had that Umberella thing going on. She was too sweet and bland before, and she's ridiculous after.

I really like her style and her songs . I wanted to dye my hair red like hers, but I haven't because I didn't want to bother with bleaching :erm:.

And I reckon people's reactions to S&M are a little over the top: http://musicouch.com/music-making/ri...-over-the-top/

Regardless of whether I like her music or not, I admire her because I think she's done well to rise above a lot of media criticism. I remember when there was a huge furor a while ago about her cellulite. That's not an easy criticism to take, but she comes back every time and absolutely rocks every concert she does in the skimpiest of outfits. For that, I admire her.

I'm cool with her doing her thing, but according to the OP, she is a role model, which I disagree with, and OP did as for opinions.

Don't worry about it, this geeky old forum generally tends to be rather anti-pop, lol.
