then surely you'd call it work shadowing rather than work experience?
Otherwise, i'm about to go off get work experience as a cashier now, while i watch cashiers put my food in bags and ask me if i want cash-back...
Not much else he can do. He can't talk to clients or make trades and 'a few days' isn't long enough for the desk to teach him enough useful stuff to fill a day.

I do get the concept, i just take issue with labelling the observation of other people working work experience.

and its not like they have to be completely useless. during spring week i got tasks and stuff to do... even if it was just "proof read this", "give me a rebuttal to this research report" or "read all this stuff and i'll quizz you later on that"

So how did you guys land this work experience/shadowing?

I'm gonna be starting my AS in september and would like to know in advance what sort of things I'd have to do to get a placement.

I wouldn't mind even shadowing as that way you can still get some contacts there which would help with internships right?

This is the danger with internet forums, the guy knows nothing about the business and has never commented once about investment banking but now feels qualified to pass judgement on a firm. Joker.

True, He has probably just heard some random comment and now thinks that they are a bad company.

+ the fact he hasn't replied reliterates your point.

    What sort of contacts?
And do you think it's possible to land one of those shadowings by applying?

Thanks for answering my questions btw

I'm really interested in this kind of career even though from what I've read so far it's pretty horrible...

Because I know that even though the job might be hard, I'd rather have something challenging than some crappy 9-5 job tbh.

And before you all jump on me: Yes the pay is imporatant too :P
