Stick your arms in the air all day. If anyone asks what you're doing, say in an annoyed and patronising voice that you're practicing rock climbing, duh.

lol, nice one. Though, it won't help me improve the fact I can't do pull-ups.

It MIGHT!!!!!!

I'll let you know how I get on in a few days.

Blimey, 6ft 4 and only 10 stone? I'd say you should put on a bit of weight mate..

As for pullups - get in the gym and use the pulldown machines with a variety of grips..
Just keep doing as many as you can and pushing yourself and youll gradually beable to do more.

Are you sure your in 'immaculate physical health' 6'4 and 10 stones sounds like your under weight tbh.. or are you just thin hence you think 'immaculate physical health'
maybe you need to get some upper body strength

Also something that might help - get somebody to lift you up to the top and then you have to control yourself on the way down - take at least 5 seconds per rep.

it will be more benficial to you if you just keep rock climbing - the strength will come with that, and will be more functional. push yourself though.

lol, immaculate health means, though being ****ing hell of an underweight guy (I really am trying to increase it) I do try. I'll try my best to get one done.

climbing doesn't involve much strength in your arms actually. But the more strength, the better UI will be at doing the certain annoyingly hard to do with feet bits.

Pull ups are rock. Most people can't do them when they first try them. Just keep at it. Use a chair for a bit of help, and you'll eventually get stronger.

I'm only 5'8'' and weight 9.5 stone. You seem to be a little on the light side. You say you are in immaculate physical health which you probably are but do you have the musle?. You need to build some upper body strength

use assisted pull up machines at a gym. but jeez 6'4 and 10 stone thats light. no wonder you cant do pullups.

lol, thanks for the encouragement! The school nurse just went 'youll fill out'.. lol

Yeh, somehow your body will magically put slabs of muscle on your frame for no good reason.

Lesson learned: Always listen to qualified professionals because they always know what they're talking about!

If you met me you'd be surprised I way this little. Though, my close friends and mountaineering buddies know well and fine how it infringes on my pace and lack of strength. I hear being of appropriate weight you get less headaches, less susceptible to illness and all that. It seems to be the best idea. Eat more!
I can't do pull ups but I can climb (albeit not really very well). Climbing must be the only strength training I get.

I've heard that having a lot of upper body strength can actually put you at a disadvantage when climbing, at least if you're new to it, because of the tendency to just haul yourself up rather than developing footwork or technique.
