    never stated = no argument.
you created a thread which you knew would cause controversy purely for that reason. youre a tool. simple as.
And you're making ridiculous statements with no evidence to back it up which makes you what exactly?

Besides, weren't you leaving? You're lowering my opinion of people who take an active part in pride and I'm one of them.

Using your logic is it not impossible for those of us lucky enough to be gay in the UK where homosexuality is widely accepted to know what gay people in, for example, Uganda are going through - after all we haven't been through it!
nah of course we have no idea wht theyre going through, and we aree insanely lucky to have been born into a country that is so accepting, i was just making my point. he said homophobia practually doesnt exist anymore, when it clearly does, whether its in the UK or not.

    This.

I don't see how it hurts anyone if a woman who only pursues relationships with women doesn't like the word 'lesbian'. I don't. It's not aesthetically pleasing, and I have mild synaesthesia so certain words really bother me because of the texture/colour associations they have. If I self-describe as 'queer', I'm not hurting anyone.
Unlike Sherrrl, I wasn't attacking her for her choice, just curious. Unlike "queer", though, "gay" has a definite meaning of male homosexual, so the situation is slightly different, though your point remains the same. Like I said, I am just curious over her choice.

    no idea!
it is a bit of an odd term tbh.
Post-genderists will be up in arms over it.

aww thats a shame, i forgot a random person on tsr's opinion of me was gonna effect me in anyway what so ever.
and if you think that lowly of me why are you letting it affect you.
i was yeah, but this argument amuses me.

completely out of the closet + never been bullied.
    FAIL.
Its quite easy to say anything on the internet but if you were lucky enough not to be then thats a good thing, i know quite a few gays/lesbians who have had a lot of issues and i can imagine its hard.

My point was its not a good look when you contradict yourself in the next sentence and then assuming that OP is not what he says he is because of his views alone...that is close minded regardless and a few thumbs up from skim readers isn't going to change that.

I wouldnt be surprised. Gay men can be really vicious about lesbians. At one point it really pissed me off so I said "Okay, so you dont like straight women and you dont like gay women, what women do you like?"
haha why? it's not as if they'd steal the gay guys in the bar

And I'm calling troll on the OP; maybe I'm being too idealistic but I'd like to think that no one can be that ignorant.

Actually that isnt true. I worked in a gay bar for a long time and some of them actually voiced that they hated lesbians and didnt like it when they came into the bar.

All being gay means is that you're attracted to members of the same sex. It doesnt mean you're a nicer, or more accepting person.
But how can someone want acceptence from society themselves, and outcast others in a similar situation?

Easily. I know of gay bars that you can't enter unless you've proven yourself gay, with your mouth or your ass.

I know of people who have been rejected from lesbian bars because they were "too pretty to be lesbian" and this was with their girlfriends.

People enjoy rejecting people and making themselves feel good at the expense of others. Being gay doesn't mean you have to be nice to gays or even lesbians. This idea that they are some amazing community with a great respect for each other is silly. They're as fractured as any community which bases itself on superficial interests.

Said it doesnt exist as much as you think in the context of what we were talking about, the UK, how are you so thick you cannot understand that.

If i went into a room and said 'smells nice', it doesnt mean every room in the world smells nice, you are talking about what context your in. Jesus.

Lots of gay and lesbian people have this attitude towards bisexuality, "you'll have to choose eventually you know".

A bisexual can still use porn of females and males. Never have to choose to stick with one and the other.

Someone being gay does not make them automatically open minded. They can easilly be as ignorant and backwards as everyone else.

if you were really gay you wouldnt have this closeminded opinion. i dont believe you're gay for even a second. gay people as a whole are alot more accepting of people especially those that fit into lgbtq. you would understand that just like being gay, being trans or bisexual is not a choice. you would be telling people that you cant help who you are attracted too, so why cant some people be attracted to both sexes?
do you think some people would spend thousands of pounds on sugery and go through all the bullying, and the comeing out, and all the isolation and rejection if they didnt truly believe they were born in the wrong body.
    idiot.
It's not for you to say if he's gay is it? Get over yourself.

Why should gay people automatically be equated with transgender folk?

Explain that, or lose the condemnatory tone.

she could be genderqueer or something and therefore not want to identify as a lesbian.
but then again i suppose her username suggests she's not genderqueer.
How can she not identify as a lesbian. She IS a lesbian surely? I don't get this ?

    If anything genderqueer sounds wierder...

I thought I couldn't call gay's queers because they all took offence to it.
