What do people think of the firm and does anyone know if they will be recruiting trainees for 2013?

I am looking at regionals. The Chambers Students report is good, I like the mix of commercial and private, but the trainee videos on the site are a bit offputting... the trainees don't seem to have any spark

    Hey,

I would say CW are more of a national firm. They have 6 offices across the whole country, they are not just defined to a particular region.

They have specialisms in Sport, they represent 19 football clubs and most recently represented the Stig from Top Gear! Other clients I think include Burger King and Fred Perry etc. So seems like a great client list anyhow.

I think they suffered quite bad in the recession though, they pushing on a top50 UK firm, but I think now they have dropped to mid 60's. Also they cancelled their trainee intake for 2012, so not sure about 2013.

    Good Luck!

    Hey,
I very rarely post on here, but I saw this and just have to, as my dad is head of one of the sectors in one of the offices, and I so rarely see anything to do with CW on legal forums. They did indeed suffer very badly last year - I personally have experienced the effects..! But they're on course to do better this year, and in general partners make very good money.
I had work experience with them a couple of years ago and it was really friendly and inclusive. Good hours, too, although I suppose the focus on private client explains that. Not sure about the trainee recruitment, but I could find out, if no one else knows.
Hope that helps a tiny bit..

Thank you, if you could find out it would be brilliant! If they are recruiting I will apply, they sound good and hopefully economically things will be improving
