The rise in bus prices was such a bad idea. My friend used to be able to use a different card for her bus, but now everything has changed and she's been told she has to pay £100 for the new card for half a years worth when we only have about a month worth of college left. Her family can't afford it, so now she can't take that bus and either has to bike 50 mins to college (walking obviously out of the question) or catch a lift with her friend, who can't always pick her up. Her parents cannot take her, so she is now considering living with a friend for the remainder to actually even get to college or she can't turn up at all. It's ridiculous.

With the lack of part time jobs about, I don't have much money on me and now can't afford to use the bus at all. Therefore, when I need to go to town (not a case of wanting to anymore) someone has to drive me in, which defeats the whole idea of the government trying to get people to use public transport. I can't afford to learn to drive and it's too far to walk or cycle realistically.

I've tried really hard to find a part time job, but I've had no luck. Handed out 100's of CVs, applied online, asked for applications in shops, tried for months, only 3 interviews and unsuccessful with all. I did have a job, but that company went under. I now can't afford to go to my prom and couldn't afford to get my mum a present for mothers day, I had to ask my dad for some money for it who is separated from her and doesn't like her, which was awkward to say the least.

I probably sound really moany, but right now I don't really care. All I'm asking for is a part time job, I don't care how **** it is or anything.

How are you finding the current job situation? Do you agree with me or not at all? A lot of people at college have spoke to me about this also, it's not just me.

Jobs are limited at the moment.
And it's worse for part time jobs.

:console: Sad times OP. I'm finding it difficult too. Attempting to get a job is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I really wish I could do something to help people like us, this isn't on.

And you should probably move to London - free bus travel here if you're a full-time college/school student under 19 :ahee:

Or not. Just keep trying with the job thing, something's bound to come up. Or, failing that, maybe start selling things? That's what I might do tbh.

I've been looking for a job (of any sort) since last July since leaving sixth form - still unsuccessful. With all the education cuts/changes/everything else, not having a job adds another layer to my personal problems. Means I can't progress in life. We are all unfortunate for being born when we were. Isn't it now, at this age, when we need these sorts of jobs to gain experience? No experience = not much chance of a job in the future (have as many qualifications as you like, employers don't want them) We've all been f**ked and everyone of our generation's future is bleak.

Apply for fast food restaurants, at least you're on the job ladder then work your way through other jobs and work your way up

If you've sent 100's of CV's off and still not had any luck, I suggest getting your CV checked out by the CV helper/s on this forum. In the CV Help thread. I had mine checked out and I didn't realise how **** my CV was in the first place.
