Not sure sorry, I know the forge (where I lived) had around 1800 study bedrooms, between 5 and 7 to a flat, really worth looking at. If your going to go with UNITE though I would go direct through them rather then with the uni, cos then you can choose your room exactly.

Just a tip too, unless you get the full grant/bursary and loan you will struggle with an ensuite, unless your parents will be helping you out/you have a job. As I know standard ensuites can range from £90+ and it pretty much eats your whole loan.

Some non ensuites aren't really that bad, you can sometimes only end up sharing a bathroom with 3 people.

Oh I'd stay away from leadmill point I think its called.. my friends currently live there. It took 8 months to get their oven fixed and the halls are so damp they have silverfish...

The good thing with going with a company instead of directly through SHU is you get to mix with people from the uni of too.

When you are filling in your SHU accomodation form you have to pick 2 choices. Bear in mind you probably won't even get the 2 choices you pick if you chose very competitive ones like trigon but you never know.

You will deffo be guaranteed ensuite if you go directly through a company too, and if you have any friends going to hallam too you can arrange to be in a flat together.
How can you check which accomodation is through UNITE?

Hiya, you go straight through the UNITE website. You can arrange a viewing that way, then they'll normally ring you once to confirm.

Then when your there you can ask them about the blueprints of the buildings and whatnot.

Or, if your a current student at Hallam you could always pop in to the main office and just ask for a viewing.

They said they start allocating unconditionals in June, so beginning of July sounds about right for accommodation offers.

Hey, I firmed a conditional offer to do Sports Science for Performance Coaching at SHU, I applied for my accommodation through the uni, with Victoria Halls as my first and Opal 1 as my 2nd. I've only just seen people talking about going through UNITE? Can someone quickly explain the advantages and is it to late to go through them if I've already gone through the uni, this whole process is worrying me Thanks in advance!!!

You can still go through them if you've gone through the uni, just when the uni offers you accommodation you can decline. The downside to going through unite especially seen as you have a conditional offer is that if you don't get the grades you are still liable for the contract and will have to pay rent all year unless you find someone else to take your room (unlikely as most will go through the uni). The university guarantees that you will get accommodation after you get your results, but not necessarily the accommodation you want. Also you can only book Vic Halls through the uni.

Also the unite accommodations isnt the best from what iv read... And a lot of international students book in advance, so you might end up with no one from the uk.

A lot of rooms are reserved for people applying through Hallam's portal, so it shouldn't be too bad. You're likely to get international students in most accommodation blocks, you'd be very very unlucky to end up with only international students.
