To those of you planning to stay at Claredale House, is it any good? I've been offered a 7 square meter (!) room, must decide before Friday. It's quite cheap and I don't mind living in not so fancy conditions, but it's really the commuting I'm worried about. According to the Journey Planner, it's 30 minutes door to door from Claredale to where I'll work.

As some of you have already mentioned, it indeed would be worth the extra quid to have a place within walking distance from work. The dates just don't match my work period at the places I've been looking at.

Does anyone know of a place like Claredale but closer to the city?

Could also add that I can book it now for a £150 deposit, and then just walk away if I would stumble upon something better later on.

Last Summer, a friend of mine and I privately rented (it's a pain in the arse to find something if you leave it reasonably late) - had a 2 Bedroom 2 story flat just on Goswell Road near to Angel. Place itself was quite nice although the area could've been nicer...

Major plus was that it was only a 10 minute walk into work (I was at BofAML at St Pauls) - being able to walk in in the summer made a hell of a difference (also meant the Taxi home from Kanaloa was never expensive..haha).

Although I do warn you lot, it can be a bit of a pain to find short term lets if you leave it late - but they are out there. The halls they suggest look horrible to be honest and aren't in a particularly nice part of town either (if they're still in Hackney/Bethnal Green area).

Realistically you are not going to have much time to socialise within halls when working. Based on assumptions; in the mornings you are going to wake up, get ready and go to KMPG, then not going to be back until at earliest 6 and you'd need to get some food, perhaps do a bit of work etc, relax then sleep. Perhaps on the weekend if you are still going to be around then there might be some time to socialise but overall most people interning are going to be busy

It is. Quote from the Claredale House FAQ:

    What is the area like?

Like a lot of London it’s a real mixture. Large housing estates nestle next to trendy pubs, and what was once a predominantly working class area has become gentrified in many parts. There are lots of new buildings being built and many more being refurbished.

Everything you need is on your doorstep; whether you want to go shopping, eat out or see a film – it’s all there.

Like any inner-city area, there is some crime in the area but Claredale House is a very safe place to live and it is very safe to walk around the area. It is important that people show some common sense when travelling around this or any other part of London or indeed any European city. London is fun – it’s a great place to live, work and play.
Lol. But whatever, I paid the deposit today so I at least will have something to fall back on.

Just applied to Claredale house, but looking for other places too. Don't really care about the quality, I just want somewhere that stands a chance of being sociable. Anybody know of anywhere else good, that isn't too much of a commute into central London?

Hey, I am really interested in hearing your experience! I will be interning with BoAML next summer at St Paul and I am planning to rent a private studio/one bedroom appartment. How did you manage to find yours ? Because it looks pretty complicated to rent something for such a short time. Also, when would you recommend to start looking for it ? One month before arriving, or even earlier ?

And lastly, in which department were you interning ? Did you manage to get an offer eventually ? Thanks a lot for the input!
