Hi. I'm just about to start an evaluation for some creative work and have forgotten which tense it should be written in. Should it be in past or present tense?

    Thanks

I assume that you're analysing some sort of passage / book. Therefore, it'll be marked on reading skills (picking out stuff / overview etc.) So, it is up to you. I did my Romeo and Juliet in this sort of style: When Romeo entered the square, Tybalt shouts at him: “The love I bear thee, can afford no better term than this. Thou art are a villain.” And I got an A*, so it doesn't really matter unless it's a writing piece, being marked on writing techniques.
