Hello, do you have a preference to where you go?

Congrats on your offer/interview. What's your graduate background?

    Hey,

Thanks I'm getting really nervous now!!! Have you had any interviews?

I'm from the South so tbh I'd like to go to Liverpool just because it's closer but Edinburgh is sooo lovely. Equine is also my strong point so I think Liverpool would be great for that too.

I've got an Animal Science (Equine) degree and a PGCE in primary science and I currently work in a Zoo!

Hey, like you I've got Edinburgh offer and had my Liverpool interview today which wasn't to bad. Read the Liverpool veterinary admissions statement as out tells you what to swot up on. So it's wait and see for me...

I'm pretty keen on Edinburgh though. good luck eh

Hi! I have applied for my maintenance loan, was a nightmare, I had to speak with about 10 different people, then received a letter saying I was eligible for nothing.... So I rang up and contested it, and kept repeating that veterinary is a vocational degree. Eventually they sent a letter saying I will receive £5,998 per year...
Good luck, and keep pestering them, I don't think a lot of the staff are aware that veterinary is an exception to the rule re 2nd degrees.

I did it online, plus lots of phonecalls! I think as I am over 25 they work it out depending on my income, and I earn bugger all! I'm not certain, but I think that is the calculation.. I'm planning on firming Bristol.... Just need to find money.. getting there...but still need more!

Didn't someone say its easier to apply via paper as the on-line application doesn't recognise Vet Med and only recognises Vet Science? Hopefully if they get people constantly pestering it will get easier as they will know how to help us. Im glad to hear it is actually possible tho (even if it is a bit of a b*ll ache!)

Not yet, I don't want to push my luck! I think the deadline is May though, is that right?
If I do get a place I think I will use the paper copy though because it seems to work a bit better (going by last year's thread). I think people actually have to read it instead of a computer working it all out.

twas me who said to do a paper copy as that's what I was advised by student finance and they got it right once I'd sent that in. With regards to amount it doesn't matter how old you are as it's not income assessed because we aren't eligible for any grants, just the loan which isn't based on you or your parents income

Serious question -- how are those who didn't get into RVC/Notts going to afford the tuition fees? apart from having rich parents (and I'm sure most are not blessed with them!), I have no idea how anyone could afford them?

Hey! Hmmm, yeah, I've applied to the only charities I can find that I am eligible for.. I've got the maintenance loan sorted, so I know where I stand re.living budgets..
When it comes to the serious money, my dad can give me 5,500 per year approx, and my darling mother is attempting to match that (they are divorced, and vvv competitive!)
For the rest, My two mentors (who are prominent vets) have written me a character reference, which along with my research papers, form part of a campaign to raise some corporate sponsorship (which is I know, unlikely...)
I've completed research in the past funded by McDonalds, and some other companies, so I was hoping that might help me scrape some extra cash together... Other than that, I aim to get a £10,000 career development loan from Barclays in years 4/5 (the govt only pay interest on those loans for two years) To help towards fees during the clinical years.
Plus much to my boyfriends amusement, I thought I would try and do something sponsored, like a marathon. I know I'l only earn about ten pounds from it, but it shows drive and commitment, that people like to see..

How about you? What are your plans for earning these mega bucks?
A vet I did work exp with told me of a girl in this situation, apparently she funded her vet degree through being an escort!!!!

    Hey,

There is a facebook group set up initially for the US grads coming in... lots of them are discussing housing etc. Request to join I think...

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/179833652127741/

Also I am pretty sure I am going to Edinburgh with my cat. Not living in halls but not sorted anything yet. Looking for a sharehouse but I am not sure I want to live with students at all. I've thought about it a little but but not going to seriously until I officially accept my place. Are you 5yr or 4yr? Where are you living now?

Hi everyone, I am feeling really deflated, sending out loads of sponsorship letters and just rejection after rejection. Has anyone else had any positive responses, I don't want to know names, but would be really nice to see that there is some hope. Good luck with fundraising

    Hello

Im in a bit of a funny situation with my application here, I had an email from Bristol yesterday saying they were still considering my application and had to put off some decisions until interviews had taken place in mid April. So I got it into my head that I wouldn't hear till then, which is what it says in the email.
However today I got a UCAS track email saying I was unsuccessful, but no email from bristol informing me about my application which they said they would do?! Ive tried contacting bristol but noones there at this time

Ahh anyone know what I should do?
