    Hi,

In my job as a careworker there are some homes I have to go in where the service user smokes (While I'm there and I can't do anything about it) and there are also some that don't clean, don't let anyone clean and their house really REALLY stinks of an indistinguishable musty/stale smell.

Now I know I smell of cigarettes, there is nothing I can do about that. I know cigarettes stink too, but oh well.

But I'm certain I smell even worse because I'm sure when I get on the bus people are thinking that I stink and It can't be just cigarettes. Also for the record, I bathe twice a day so It's not a personal hygine issue.

So I'm asking, is it the case being in a room/building that smells really bad and stale - the smell will stick to your clothes and be carried around with you?

    Cheers

I suppose dust/mold could stick to you, not sure.
Maybe the bad smell is the smoke?
I know a few people who smell quite strongly of cigarettes and it isn't too pleasant.

I don't know the answer to your question, but if you were after practical advice you could keep a couple of outfits for work and then change afterwards. Sorry if I'm being Captain Obvious here (you have probably already thought of this) but it might work.

Well yes but it's no consolation on the bus ride home.

Yes they definitely can, loads of people I know carry the smell of their house with them.
