In the night, using a team of masked men and women.
That has already been said, come up with something new.

Well, that didn't happen in Iraq.

Fine: They send your fat ass in to roll around in it and then lift you back to the home country using a helicopter. They then hire a very very large team of volunteers to scrape it from you over a period of about three months.

    This quote is gold:
“We do not know the exact quantity of oil we are exporting, we do not exactly know the prices we are selling it for, and we do not know where the oil revenue is going to.”

Heard of the '07 Oil Law, pushed through by the Bush administration, awarding no-bid contracts for most of the countries oil fields to the likes of BP, Shell, and Exxon? That one's a good bit of fun reading when you've got time to spare.

They don't need to scoop it up with a spoon, they just need to control the terms of supply to other countries via a subservient government and BAM! they have big time powah over them, which is much more valuable.

They "steal" it by taking control of supply and giving lucrative contracts to their oil companies, and installing a puppet regime.

erm... they 'steal' it by paying the most for it/being able to buy it.

If everyone in Iraq decided they wanted to buy the a USA sized portion of oil, as long as they could pay more than the US for it, they would get it.

How the West became the richest region in the world, is a completely different matter.

Given that oil prices have done nothing but rise in recent years, I think its safe to say that the idea that we went to war for oil is a crock of horse****
