I was considering volunteering to work in a bank. Would this be a good idea? Also what other places would be suitable to make my UCAS application stand out?

    Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Thanks.

Volunteer to become a Maths tutor in your school, teach Maths to primary school kids.

I would imagine volunteering at a bank would be classed as work experience, which is great but wouldn’t be considered charitable.
Finding a voluntary position related to Maths is always going to require a bit of ingenuity. Most schools run maths clubs or extra revision sessions for pupils sitting Maths exams, could be an easy way to volunteer in something related to your subject. You could also get involved with your school council, who usually elect a treasurer.
There is a flipside to the lack of structured volunteer programs related to Maths - volunteering of any kind is likely to improve your application, but an admissions tutor could appreciate an applicant who has used their initiative to create a new role rather than being signed up to a scheme.
