When this 24 year old NYC pilot decided he needed to make an emergency landing due to one of his passengers taking sick in the sky, he requests permission to land his light aircraft on a public beach in NYC in an extremely relaxed and laid back manner, even cracking a few jokes with ground control! I mean I usually get a bit jittery when taking to the skys but I want to know what relaxing techniques this guy uses and try them out before my next flight.
Check the conversation between them here. (Audio)

I'm guessing those were his relaxing techniques

The jokes are beside the point. That is an extremely stupid idea.
Why on earth would you land on a beach if you had one single slightly nauseous passenger? I don't believe the engine trouble to be true.
The FAA needs to revoke his licence as a minimum.
EDIT: Why am I negged for this? I am an Aerospace student and an aspiring pilot who has a valid say... You could at least tell me why...Last edited by SuperiorHuman; 06-04-2011 at 17:32.

Said public beach was completely empty and had no people on it... right
I'll assume he's a skilled and level headed pilot

well it's not like he was landing a concorde on a mountain top.
People control, or try to control for that matter nerves and anxiety in different ways.
