what are the fundamental particles?

Particles which (we believe) are not themselves made up from any smaller particles (i.e they have no substructure)

atoms - not fundamental, made up from protons and neutrons
electrons - fundamental; no smaller components
protons - not fundamental, made from quarks
quarks - fundamental

For PHYA1:
Leptons - electron, muon, electron neutrino, muon neutrino
Quarks - up, down, strange
Their anti-particles are also fundamental.
