Case study (1) Rick is fat, unattractive, spotty but with advanced cognitive abilities at a top 5 university and a high paid career in banking that he will take up after university. Rick does has a great social life with his future banking friends, but is not good looking or attractive in any way.

Case study (2) Casey is slim, dark and handsome with a great six pack and shimmering skin and a natural tan. He can get with anybody he wants, has a great social at the weekend when he chills out after finishing work at the hair salon he works at. He does part time modelling, but knows it has a short shelf life. Casey has no chance of every going to university or getting a 'professional' career, nor does he want to; he is happy in his lifestyle, until one night in a bar another guy tells him he is actually quite a stupid guy.

    Who would you rather be?

I personally would be Rick any day of the week - I would rather be intelligent, care about things and about people - have an INTEREST in life, than be a Casey in this world. The amount of Caseys I've met and they're just boring - I think I would be happy being ugly and fat but with a secure future and career and a good education.

Casey will only get so far in life.

I'd be Rick because for the looks i think he can change them. Very few people are born genetically screwed looks wise. After he's sorted that out, he's hot ****. But then again, i'm just greedy. He can definitely change being fat and spotty though, being attractive is subjective and the likelihood of him being attractive goes up substantially when he goes through self improvement.

Rick can improve himself more. Get plastic surgery, teeth whitners, buy an exercise specialist.

It would depend on the relationship prospects. No use being a millionaire at 25 if your wife cheats on you with Casey.

But Casey is always going to have a low paid, unprofessional job - he is at a glass ceiling that he's unwilling to cross anyway. Who cares about attractive people when you're brainy and successful, right?

Relationship prospects? I reckon its a no brainer. Rick would own Casey if he sorted his looks out through sheer value and manning him out. Seen it a lot of real life, rich guys win because they usually have to be confident to earn their money anyway.

Rick please. He seems content with himself and his physical appearance doesn't define him

Exactly - isn't it about being a real man and having a good career and being able to provide... how will Casey step up to the mark with only his looks to go by?

With his attractiveness he has many options. He could seduce a rich buisnesswoman and get her money. He could get himself locked in a good job with his attractiveness. He has a lot of options for setting himself up.

The other person may be brainy and successful now, but companies go bust. Mistakes happen. And, social interactions are a much greater predictor of happiness than wealth.

Read the op again, it specifically says he has no chance nor does he want to. I'm only answering the question set.

Which he's happy about, according to the terms of the hypothetical situation you've put forward. You've described a guy who's happy about every aspect of his life... why would anyone not choose that?

Or they need to have good maths skills. They can attract beautiful gold diggers, but marrying a gold digger is not a good recipe for happiness. Women want you to devote lots of time to them, and company men have little time to devote.

I wouldn't like to be either. Regardless of looks, Casey is in a deadend job. He probably blows the majority of his wage on booze at the weekend. Which is fine until you reach 21-24 and realise you haven't been a teenageer for years now. Rick just sounds like a douche, one of those look at me I drive a BMW I m automatically better than you, excuse me while I park in this disabled spot becuase I can afford to buy the council that will fine me 10 times over, kinda guys.

Look. Man up if this thread is autobiographical. Just sort out what you need to sort out. If you're fat, go on a diet. If you have spots, visit a dermatoligist.
Being a real man is about doing what you have to in order to achieve your goals and be happy. If you have a complex about your ugliness/fatness then you can change if you want or sit and post threads about it to people you don't even know. No point letting it cook inside you and being in denial.

I bloody love gold diggers. They must **** you so resonantly when they assume moneys going to be on a plate for them.

Lol it's not autobiographical, I just watched an interesting 'classic' movie concerning such issues.
