I don't know if anyone has seen this in the news but the Advertising Standards Agency has censored Jack Wills' Spring catalogue because it is "potentially" offensive to younger teenagers.

Jack Wills responded that their catalogue is aimed at university students and so is entirely decent as people have to order it from their website and so go out of their way to do so.

Interestingly there was complaints about a previous advertisement being too flirtatious which the ASA decided was not too provocative.

A quick Google of "Jack Wills Controversial Nude Advert" brings up many search results it has taken the advertising world by storm!

Younger teenagers have seen it all anyway, in porn, in movies and magazines etc. It's hardly damaging. It's probably a publicity stunt, I'm sure plenty of people hadn't heard of Jack Wills before this and it isn't going to stop young people buying their clothes.

As always, it depends what the majority think.

    Potential reasons could be child-related.

Desperate tactics, who the hells wears Jack Wills anymore? Jack Wills was cool a couple of years ago.

I flicked through the catalogue without even giving that image a second thought. They're not exactly having sex...

I especially don't see the problem when you have to be 18 to sign up!

Yeah saw it on the Daily Mail website.

Basically a woman & bloke snogging and they were both topless and you view the girl in nothing but JW panties.

Oh and you see side boob.

Lol pathetic. "OH NOES NAKED PEOPLE!!1!1" It's not like people have their own bodies which they see naked every day. We all know males have penises and women have boobs and vaginas. Get over it you oversensitive people.

Nothing wrong with it, and certainly nothing the majority of young people haven't already seen/done.
Ironic that something like this has been banned (after only 19 complaints...) because it presents a "risk to younger teenagers", and yet these same younger teenagers can go out and buy games that allow them to go on virtual killing sprees - which isn't seen as a risk. The balance is wrong somewhere

They're trying to mix things up, because their brand is relatively irrelevant right now.

All the hype about this is really annoying me.

To get the catalogue with said advert in you had to declare that you were above 18.

That's why the agency responsible for regulating adverts (don't remember the name) has not banned it.

    Its pathetic really.
1 - As already said, you have to be 18 to get it.
2 - So what? Its not exactly something they wouldn't have seen before.
3 - How much hypocrisy do we want in this country. I bet the people complaining have no problems with Abercrombie & Fitch having half naked male models in their stores.

Although I do find it somewhat ironic that to sell clothes, they advertise wearing hardly any clothes!

    I've got that and I'm 17. And I never said I was 18, soooo...
(but yeah it's not really a massive deal, the models aren't exactly twelve).

This thread makes me smile, because everyone's saying Jack Wills is old.

Perhaps finally everyone will stop wearing it already!

I think the only possible reason they could have banned it is that there aren't enough clothes in it to be a clothes advert.
