I'm fairly pale thanks to my mother's Scottish descent and unfortunately do not follow my father's Italian descent unlike the rest of his side of the family (all very dark!)

I'm not one for sunbeds and I definitely don't bake in the sun because I get boredddd far too easily and because skin cancer is NOT on my to-do list.

I've used fake tan over winter at uni but in the sun it just looks awful and patchy - no matter what I use!

I've ended my relationship with fake tan and am now searching for a way to work the pale look. Girls, what is your take on summer skin?

I've never been bothered by the colour of my skin. I'm pale and that's how I was born. I stay out of the sun wherever possible (even at festivals in the summer I walk around with an umbrella).

I think people just need to learn to accept who they are and what they've got. Play up the things they do love and ignore the things they aren't so happy with - no one's perfect.

If you want a sun-kissed look that won't streak and isn't too expensive, I thoroughly recommend Garnier Summerbody. I think it's £5 a bottle but if you use it all over you can run out in a few weeks. It's a self tanning moisturiser. I'm super pale and it gave me the bit of colour I desperately needed.

pale in my humble opinion is more sophisticated and classy as a lot of the girls in the UK are glowing orange ... but girls with naturally darker skin should also work it and not try to be paler.

    I like being pale

I burn really easily though so I don't actually know what I look like with a tan  Why don't you try a gradual self tanning moisturiser and see how it goes? Just try and get one without the horrid fake tan smell! :emo:

You can be a guinea pig for me OP! :ahee:

I use fake tan, but only very lightly, not to make myself look like I've been in Marbella for 3 weeks but to cover my eczma scars. If you get a good quality one like St Tropez (yes expensive but omg so worth it and doesn't run out straight away) then mix it with moisteriser before you apply it should be okay. And as long as you exfoliate and moisterise before you apply there's no reason that it should go patchy.

do you have fake tan on in your picture? and girls worry too much about tans, it actually looks pretty bad when girls get burnt in the sun and look unnaturally dark. Some girls actually look better with fairer skin

I know it's not the point of the the OP but I agree. I know a girl who had fair skin before and has now gone orange. To make it worse she wears that pale lipstick to make it even more obvious. She was a really good looking girl before that, but now I just think :puke:

IMO girls are more attractive without the fake tan!

Naturally pale people look better pale. Fake tan is done well like 1/10 times. Good luck with the natural look.

I'm naturally very pale, and don't worry about it. I've never used fake tan or a sun bed. I live in Northern Europe, not some hot sunny country.

Pale is cool But if your skin looks like pale cheese its a bit ugly. What I hate is my legs being so pale - They seem to look even bigger because of it
But I don't bother with fake tan because it's messy and while I'm not really scared of skin cancer (even though it runs in my family ) I worry about getting wrinkly from the sun.

The pleasant Mediterranean climate attracts a large number of tourists each year. With an average of 270 sunny days per year, Bar is one of the Mediterranean’s sunniest towns.

Yes, I guess girls (and guys) in my lovely town have no need to tan
