ribs

Hi

To cut a long story short, I got into a fight weekend before last and didn't do so well in it; I got kicked a few times in the side. I've bruised my ribs a few times before and the pain wasn't so bad at first but it's been getting steadily worse over the last couple of days, to the extent that walking hurts at the moment.

So...what do you esteemed fellows think? I've been resting it but that doesn't seem to help, so should I just try to ignore it or do something?

The pain is all over both sides of my ribs, it feels especially bad when I laugh, breathe deeply and cough, though moving in general hurts too! Any advice would be much appreciated.

could you have broken your ribs.

I'd pop to the doctors.

My dad did his a few years ago they just strapped em but gave him some strong pain killers. It hurt alot when he laughed or so he said.

Awww... i feel so guilty for making you laugh!!! Yeah - get down to the medical centre!!

Best cure for cracked ribs - rest, rest, and more chocolate cake
aww, u got in a fight? how did u manage that?

coincidence: ive also hurt my ribs at the moment - got an elbow into my ribs playing football last wednesday, then made them worse playing dodgeball on saturday (throwing with right arm when right side of ribs hurts didnt seem to help) and today throwing snowballs and sledging down a hill on binbags (great fun though) but yeah mine arent as bad as yours, if yours have been hurting for that long and you've been resting them i'd go see a doctor about it...a friend i used to know from school fractured a rib when her boyfriend hugged her too hard! i think its easier than you would have thought to fracture/break one...

For the mean time bandage your arm to your side whichever side hurts more it should help a little.

Sounds like you got cracked ribs,
Go and see the doctor, dont get into fights in future :frown:
 If that happened to anyone I knew over here, there would be a court case and a couple lawsuits to go along with it

How dare this individual hurt your hips like that! You poor baby, make sure you are getting lots of rest, and listen to your doctor and to what some of the people have been saying in this thread

I wish I could help out more, but unfortunately I haven't even started my pre-reg physio course  So I have a fair bit of studying to do before I can help with all things physical-injury wise. Oh yeah, plus my location might be a bit of hindrance, I do live miles away I'm telling you

Anyway get well soon hun! :hugs:

Deffo go to the docs, painful ribs are no fun. I pulled an intercostal muscle last year, and at times even breathing was painful, made even worse by the fact I had a bad cough at the time :frown: I got painkillers from the doc after going there to check out what it was cos I'd been in pain for about 2 weeks.
