Well, clutch on my car has needed doing for a while but i've not had money to get it done =(...

Anyway, didn't get a new MOT on the car so haven't driven it in about a month.
Went to my car to check on everything, and I found the gears are suddenly really stiff but kinda sticky too...It's really quite hard to put it into gear without some force. There was no odd sounds though from the engine or anything that I could pick up.

How would i know if it has completely gone? And how much do gearboxes generally cost?

Hoping to get it fixed this week but the Garage its going to be about 10 days before I can get it into the Garage(garage is very busy =( )

    Thankyou!

Gearbox can be anything from 50 quid to 5 grand. Depends what you drive, who you take it to and what's actually wrong.

Chances are it's likely to be an issue with either the clutch cable or clutch hydraulics rather than a box problem. Gearboxes are (usually) good for the life of the car.

Vauxhall Corsa - Clutch hydraulics are quite a few Hundred to fix i believe? Or is that possibly because the clutch is usually replaced at the same time?
