I thought it would be interesting to discover which is the most academically selective school in the UK and whether it is a top grammar or a selective independent. If anybody knows a source for statistics on this I'd be most grateful if you would share it with me. Thanks.

Erm... I'm talking about schools, not universities.

In any case, LSE is the most selective university in the UK.

What do you mean by most "academically selective"? The school with the hardest entrance exam?

Partially, yes, but also the percentile. I understand the majority of grammars accept those who obtain a score in the top 25% of 11+. Perhaps there is a selective independent or top grammar that require a score in the top 10% for example?

State school? St Olaves Grammar (it's described as 'super-selective') or perhaps King Edward, Birmingham. Public school? Westminster or Sevenoaks probably.
