# Two numbers of the same power watch

1. I'm trying to work out but I can't do it no matter how I try. I know that the answer is around 0.35 for alpha through trial and error but I can't take logs (or more to the point I don't know how to ).

Help appreciated...like a lot!

An obvious solution is a=0.

You need to use a numerical method.

a=0 clearly works.

Note that and similarly . Try to collect things together and bring it all to one side to get:

.

At which point, you will probably need to use an iterative process of some sort. You could have just done that at the start, too.

Like iteration?
