    Hi,
I live outside the UK and plan to come soon to study PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Communication Systems). I have recently applied to several universities and got Unconditional offers from (York, Newcastle, Brunel, Swansea and Edinburgh) and do not know which to chose, I mean which is better. I know the ranks, but they are many and different and hope to get help on that:confused:.

    Thanks

Pick the university which offers you the most suitable supervisor. You're planning on doing PhD research -- 'ranks' are not as important and in either case there's no significant difference between those universities. Pick on supervisor.

Edinburgh is the most prestigious among those, but as mentioned the supervisor and your research area are more important than the university itself. Also funding might be a game changer.

I am coming from outside the UK to study in Brunel University. What is the cheapest area to live in with my family during my study in London?

Brunel is located in a suburban area in West London called Uxbridge. It shouldn't be too hard to find affordable accomodation there, as it's not exactly in the heart of London so prices aren't quite as high.
