Me and my ex were together for about 2 and 1/2 years when we broke up, the break up was very messy and was dragged out over 3 months which meant that we ended on bad terms.
It's now been over a year since we last spoke and as it was a long distance relationship I haven't even laid eyes on him. I'm 100% over him and completely happy without him but recently I found all our old cards, letter etc and it reminded me that we were happy the majority of the time.
As the break up was so bad I'm worried that he has all these bad memories of me and looks back on our relationship with regret.
I've been considering emailing him just to say that I'm sorry for how things ended, hope you're happy and that I've forgiven you for everything that went wrong.
Does this seem like a good idea or am I opening a portal to hell?
