Does anyone know If there is any problem to bring friends in the room for 4 or 5 days? I'm thinking about booking a gold studio this summer and some friends of mine would like to come to visit Scotland!

Well from the tennants handbook it says this

'You are able to have occasional overnight guests. Please do not invite
someone to stay for more than two nights. Please speak to a member of the
accommodation team if you have an overnight guest so that we can inform
security and keep a log in case of an emergency evacuation.'

im sure you may be able to get away with it though

    Hi all,

I recently received an offer from the University of Edinburgh to take part at a masters degree programme.

Now I am looking for a good and quiet accomodation in Edinburgh for my gf and me.

What are your experiences with iQ? Is it very noisy or is it possible to study at home?

I cannot come over and have look at the rooms because I am currently living in Germany.

    Thanks,
    Frank

    Hi!

I'll be moving to edinburgh in september (postgrad at university of edingburgh) and this iQ accommodations looks really nice! But isn't it too far from the university of edinburgh (eg. kings buildings) and the city centre?
(I've never been to Ed, i'm just asking this for what i've looked up in google maps)

    Hi,

does anybody of you have a clue about my questions?

    @ i.s.a.:
    What are you studying?
I am not too sure if iQ is quiet enough to learn?!

    Many thanks and cheers,

I'm doing a msc by research in biomedical science. What about you?

is any students residence quiet enough?!
btw, iQ only has 43 weeks contracts? A masters degree lasts longer than that and I wouldn't like to be moving during the year...

I have just been accepted at Napier for a postgraduate course and am interested in booking accommodation at IQ... does anyone know which location (Fountainbridge or Grove) is closest to the Craiglockhart campus ?

Fountain is bit closer, it is next to the Fountain Park leisure center. Grove is max 5 minutes from Fountain - closer to city center.

You can check their distance here: http://maps.google.sk/maps?f=d&sourc...10568&t=h&z=17

I just registered here just to answer this post. I got accepted to the MSc Marketing program so I had my concerns about the noise level, so I sent an email to them regarding my situation and this is what they answered:

"We have several post-graduate students staying with us, and even have a
strictly post-grad Common Room, which you can have your electronic key
programmed to allow access to. This gives our older students a quiet
place away from their flat to concentrate on their heavy workload, where
    they will not be disturbed."

Also asked them about overnight guests because I'll have some family and some friends visiting:

"Your family and friends would, of course, be able to visit - we have
people visiting from time to time and all that you would need to
remember is that you would only have one double bed in your apartment,
and so sleeping arrangements would be down to you. If visitors are here for
more than three days then we ask that you let the office know, just so
that we have a record of who is in the building for health and safety
reasons (in case of a fire, etc.)"

@i.s.a I was also concerned with the distance to the school. After doing much research, unless you live in a university residence or a university private lease, all of the available housing (same type of housing as IQ) is around the same distance. Walking is roughly around 30 minutes so I assume with public transportation is much less.
