If it's a propaganda channel then the government is really rubbish at propaganda.

I mean 'Snog, Marry, Avoid', 'Rastamouse' and 'Antique's Roadshow'

The BBC is one of the least bias of any state TV news channel I know. You're being so bloody dramatic.

If you want to know *REAL* bias watch China's CCTV, Russia Today or Italy's RAI.. (just to name 3)

britain is supposed to be a free and democratic society. why then, does it force people to pay for a state propaganda channel that by its own standards is politically biased?

surely, this is the stuff of banana republics?

LOL are you kidding the BBC is the most unbiased channel in the world.

The BBC is a great public service broadcaster! The best in the world. Its shows are viewed by people all over the world. Top Gear is watched by over 350Million! worldwide. Why do people always kick it down?!l
Because some people in this country are insistent on believing with live in some sort of state controlled dictatorship.

The BBC is, by far, the least bias television broadcaster in this country. If not the world.
People will pick at every single thing, until they find some sort of evidence to prove otherwise. The BBC isn't even run by the state. It may very well be partly state funded, but it operates completely free of the state.
And they have no issue's criticising the state.
Even if it was bias propaganda. It has to be the worst propaganda I have ever seen. I mean, why on earth would they give you a choice to be 'brain washed'?! If they had some sort of agenda, surly it would be best to make it free to air.

Mind you, I did always thing James may was a bit of a lefty...

you reject the conclusions of the 2 bbc director generals and a veteran employee?

    nice.

british public are forced to pay for the state brainwashing channel if they watch it or not.

but you have a point, i might make a legal claim.
    Sorry, but what?
We are not forced to pay the license fee. You make a choice to pay the fee.
Noone is stopping you from owning a television, the license fee simply pays for the right to watch the BBC. You wouldn't expect the right to use public transport without paying...
So, essentially you are buying into this 'brainwashing'.

Wait, what? The BBC must be better at this than I thought!

Being forced to pay a licence fee is a strange system, but like the monarchy and the house of lords it is a british institution that needs preserving.

I'm all for reducing the licence fee, but not wholly eliminating it.

It gives us radio 4 and TMS- a reason in itself to support it. And would you want your feed of news to be largely decided by an Australian and a porn merchant, with a bit from the Scotsman who wrecked the Post Office?

Sky News is better apart from the adverts. It's owned by News international which is notorious for setting an agenda but Sky news is pretty unbiased.

this is the most absurd analysis i have ever read.

the BBC licence is required by law for all tv owners. by its own admission, it is a politically partisan organisation. britain has a left wing state propoganda channel-- which is unacceptable in a supposedly 'free and democratic' society.

its no use comparing the bbc with other countries, because that does excuse the bbcs crimes against democracy.

join the campaign to abolish the bbc.
