S1 is dull as pretty much anything on earth
S2 gives you hope that some day, some place, statistics could be interesting and actually applicable past common sense
S3 confirms this hope is probably in S4, if it exists in your course

I didn't get to S4 but instead did a university degree where I have to prove everything in S1-3 in horrendously rigorous fashion.

The university approach statistics is extremely different to the a level approach. As mentioned above, in A-levels there is literally no proofs - so of course it's just going to feel like memorising 100 formulae and magically getting an answer at the end of it. I feel your pain if this is the case.

It gets better at university, and does have real-life applications. Stick with it

S1 was a hell of a lot better than M1, still quite boring though

Agreed SO much better than M1, far easier and so that makes it far better!

I hate statistics. I'm doing S1 and I hate it. I don't understand any of it, I can do it fine, the questions are really easy, but I don't have the slightest idea what any of it actually means.

I'm doing S1 and S2 at the same time. Love S2 (although that may be to do with how ****ing amazing our teacher is) and hate S1 - so does the S1 teacher. Most of my teachers don't even try to hide their hatred for stats either.

I understand S2 so much more as well, at least I know what my answers mean. Permutations and combinations, however, can go **** themselves. Hopefully Mr P can make more sense of S1 for us in our Easter revision sesh. Hopefully.
