I am classified as home student (so no visa etc...) and I don't understand if working more that 20h during term (full time study) is OFFICIALLY illegal or not.
I can't find such information anywhere, there's no explicit reference to it.
    Does anyone know for sure?

    Thanks

pretty sure it legal, can't really understand why it would be illegal.

Also its only illegal for internationals to try and discourage those who are only coming to work rather than study

I think you'll find it's only illegal for international students.

I think most colleges (not sure about Uni's) DISCOURAGE you from working more than 12h per week but it's not illegal. However that may not be true for all colleges but my college (and most colleges in my area) prefer us to work under 12hr per week during term time so we can focus on our studies.

Why on earth would it be illegal for a home student?

Legal. The conditions of an international visa prohibit you from working more than 20 hours. I work about 30 hours a week while studying full time, for instance.
