I do WJEC English Lit and doing my final draft of my coursework. My teacher told me to improve my coursework I have to use historical context. I have researched about the novels I am doing (Wuthering Heights and The French Lieutenant's Woman), but does the historical context have to link back to my question ( its about Obsession) or can it be generally be about how the novel links back to what was going on at the time it was written ( Feminism)?

Sorry if this doesn't make sense.

Everything should relate to the question if possible. How may the context have informed the writer in saying X and Y about Z where Z is relevant to the question. You could approach it by focusing on the possible reasons for the characters to exhibit the behaviour they do etc. Failing that, for A level you will probably get marks for a more general comment on the context. Your best bet is to ask him/her exactly what they would like to see as it is them who mark it and not me.
