I don't recall there being any subject which involves cupcakes and Kalashnikovs under one syllabus.

    Please, educate me.

Fair do's. Seems that it's not such a bad subject after all.

From what I recall of GCSE, you just have to make stuff up and throw in a load of references.
Write the longest responses you can and there's your A.

I'm finding it really hard to revise for this! I think probably the best way is just to make yourself familiar with all the texts and to try some practice questions

That's not really a helpful response for people who are finding it difficult...
ELLA 3 is really hard, im currently surrounded by notes on all the articles with the book on my knee still totally clueless.
I think the best advice is not to panic, know each text well enough to have a basic idea of the meaning no matter which one you are given, read newspapers or at least know the key points in one, the way they're structured, key vocabulary etc. and think about your commentary as you write it so you have a framework to follow. Its approximately 45 minutes on the recast and 15 minutes on the commentary, 1 and a half hours is spent on section A (the comparisons) and that is worth the most marks, so if Cupcakes is stressing you out too much, remember you can always make up marks on a well thought out commentary and a good comparison section.
