What grade will I be able to get? + Q on vocabulary increase & summarising watch

    • Thread Starter

I'm planning to sit for my IGCSE in English (1st Language) in the Oct/Nov 2011 session, but I feel that I won't be able to get a grade A*.

I've sat for the IELTS exam before, and I got an overall mark of 7.5, with 8.5 in Listening, 8 in Reading, 7 in Writing and 6.5 in Speaking.

I know that IGCSE is different from IELTS, but can anybody tell me that based on my IELTS score, what grade can I expect in IGCSE if I didn't do any further practice?

Also, everybody says my weakest point is my vocabulary, and my love of summarising everything. Any suggestions on how to improve my vocabulary and how to not summarize?

Also, I have an issue with British & American spellings. In the IELTS exam I was told that this wouldn't affect my score, but what about IGCSE?

    My examining board is CIE.
