Goldney, but it's more expensive and harder to get into. Personally I don't think Goldney is worth the money, seeing as you can have a much better room in Durdham for a fraction of the price, but you're paying to save yourself 15 minutes walk by being in Clifton, I suppose.

Just apply to the Hawthorns and be done with it - 2 mins to lectures and... stuff.

Goldney is gorgeous, but much more expensive and really hard to get in to. Manor Hall is closer to uni, still nice, and cheaper. Me's thinking Manor.

I am thinking of applying to Manor (if I decide to go to Bristol obviously) - £42 per week = good even if I do have to share! Plus it looks really pretty. So basically, I would advise you to go to Manor because if nobody else does then I could end up being rather lonely there next year

Alternatively, I might just apply to The Hawthorns for the reason Steveee mentioned. Also it is a house so it is undersubscribed so I should get to go there if I pick it

I'm an Manor Hall atm....it's a beautiful old building and the rooms are smuuuuge (hardly anyone shares, it's mainly second year returners/internationals/jcr members!)
We have lovely grounds...views..people.....location..and it's still cheaper and easier to get into than Goldney! There's less than 300 of us too so it's a very close community without being claustrophobic. Oh and our JCR are brrrrilliant!
I seriously don't understand why Manor is so underated!

But it's the same price as Durdham, only without ensuite... :p:

Manor does sound awesome...and it's obvious why you have to pay the same as Durdham - WAY better location!! It's only 5 minutes away from the law building - that saves a LOT more than 15 minutes walk.

CHH is good too catered people!

Haha... Hmm... I'd choose goldney coz the view is simply beautiful. However, if not Goldney, then Hawthorns definitely, much closer to lectures n stuff, not Manor.

Added: Ciara - u could still sleep in the library lolx. that's wat i do occasionally, ask my tute frens!

Yup Guys n Dolls, starts tonight and goes on till Saturday! Our hall's very very big on drama and we do one musical and one serious play a year. This is blatant advertising but the cast are brilliant and you should all come see it!

CHH are putting on Fame starting tonight, we're a really musical hall (no thanks to me!) and it looks pretty good. I'm going to see it tomorrow, just cos even if it's bad it'll be funny. Looks quite impressive though.

GOLDNEY GOLDNEY GOLDNEY!
DEFINITELY apply to Goldney- I mean, its like most things in life- you've at least got to try- whats the worst that can happen- you get put somewhere else!

I applied, with the thought that I DEFO wouldnt get in and did- yay!

But on a more serious note, fair enough, Goldney is more expensive than some of the other places, but its SERIOUSLY worth it, if you want a place with SUCH a nice atmosphere and friendly cool people (and no no nasty ra's- phew!) Honestly- you'll never find a nicer place and its not really that much harder to get into!

So go on- you know you want to- take the risk!

Pah...

What's an extra 15 minutes to walk for the sake of your own power shower and heated towel rail? :p:

Totally worth it.

PS - The walk from Stoke Bishop takes 25 minutes tops, unless you're a complete lazy bum and walk slowly. I can get from Durdham to Sainsbury's in 15 minutes, and to my classes in another 5.

actually its a minimum of 35 minutes for medics, music wud be further too, as would engineeringor chemistry and maths/physics. its only woodland road thats a bit quicker. 35 minutes every day usually, but 40 sometime never less than 30 n that power walking

Reply 16

The person I was replying to was talking about law...

Oh, and music wouldn't be further.....it's only at the bottom of Whiteladies.

Well if you're talking to people that makes it more enjoyable anyway.
