Perhaps. I've spoken to potential 2012 freshers who are worried about the financial implications but all are still planning to apply.
If employers start taking on large numbers of people on with A levels like they used to 
took about 20 years to get where we are now so I don't expect any immediate fall off in 2012 (unless vince cable starts hacking at student numbers to ''pay the VC's back' for setting higher fees than he'd hoped - which would kind of take a dump on his stated policy objective of increasing access)
