This breaks the six word rule but this doesn't mean you are good at English. I know a girl doing English at some random university who once posted a couple of FB statuses about hating people with poor grammar/spelling, and these statuses had upwards of 10 simple mistakes. When pointed out she deleted and re-posted the statuses still with mistakes, which I again pointed out. She did the same again and I pointed out the mistakes that remained to which she said she had "put it through an online checker" and thus it must be correct. Needless to say she didn't see why it was all so amusing to everyone else and one of her friends messaged me saying it amused her as well.

Point of the story: studying something doesn't make you good at it. XD

    Back to six words:

You so should have chosen Literature.

I chose Literature, I swapped course.

I prefer studying Language as I feel I get much more knowledge, plus it covers Literature and History as well (my two other favourite subjects). I really enjoy the study of how English has changed over time, find phonetics fascinating, plus have recently studied a great module on conversation. Literature on the other hand I've found dry and boring, with much repetition and very poor lecturers (in some cases), and thus Language is what piques my interest and hence my degree.

Study what you enjoy. I have plenty of books on Language stuff, but prefer Literature. To be honest I don't really care what I study as I could have studied many things with equal proficiency and interest: Politics (what I originally applied for), History, Philosophy, Law, Sociology etetc . I chose this because it is the subject I knew I would be able to do no work for and still do fine in. I've not been to any lectures so can't comment. :mmm:

    Language is indeed diachronic .

Have you read Melyvn Bragg's book?

It is well worth a read

I can do no work for Language.

The same is true for Lit.

And for my Sociology modules too!

I do no work, it's amazing!

I have not, but I might.

I mean literally none, except essays.

    Essays that take one/two hours.

    I also mean no lectures/classes.

If you're actually the same then -

Wehey for the both of us

You should read it, it's awesome!

Plus it talks about my lecturer!

Who I properly stalk; it's creepy!

I do my essays on time.

20% attendance for Literature and Sociology.

Mainly attend to see my friends!

But if I'm sleepy, no way!

I consider this good work ethic.

Link me to the book then.

I will consider buying it soon.

When I am not so poor.
