Chemistry Interview..Manchester

Right I'm posting this for a friend...she's got an interview at Manchester. So could you give me any idea of what to expect so I can tell her? eg questions, Thanks! :biggrin:

The chemistry interview last year was a joke. It was a proper one on one interview with chemistry questions and questions on your personal statement but it did not matter at all because I think they were going to give everyone an offer anyway. I think this because they told you at the end of the interview that you had an offer and then after the interview they had a talk on accommodation at manchester, I mean why would you tell someone about accommodation if they have just been told that they will not be getting an offer. I didn't prepare for the interview and got an offer. If you don't know something because you have not studied it yet then say because I did and at Manchester they did not seem to care. Hope this helps.

I have an interview at Manchester too. Eurgh I don't like the sound of the Chemistry questions. What sort of things did they ask?

Basically if you've got an interview they're interested in you but the interview is to check whether you are really keen on chemistry and have any idea what a chemistry degree is about.

Yeah it went fine really, this guy asked me to draw some compound then change it about 4 times and tell me what I had to do to make different products.. then asked about reaction rates. Not too bad after all.

I can't remember what they asked..i think it was something about reaction rates and then something about how my two a-level subjects chem and bio were linked ( at the time i had just done the glycolysis/TCA cycle thing so i said that. It is seriously easy..same with Warwick.

My manchester interview last yr was awesome, i didn't get asked any chem related questions, t'was all about me :biggrin:

they mainly just ask you about you then just asked me what im studying atm so i just talked about that mainly. the interview is just to see what your like if you have an interview it means you have already got a place
