I'm applying through clearing in July, so it's more that likely that I'll be asked to attend my interview during the summer. I'm not going to be in England from June to September....have I ruined my chances of getting a place? Do people ever have phone interviews or alternatives?

    Dear Sir,

I'm currently out of the country until x date and as a result will not be able to attend an interview. I wondered if it will be possible to arrange a phone or skype interview please?'. Sorry for the inconvenience.

You really must be home during exam results day, so that you can go through clearing and all. I am afraid, that unless if there are any other way, then I guess your stuck with it.

If you're going through Clearing you really need to be home. It's unlikely you'll get a place if you're not. You'd need to spend a lot on phone costs, and there will also be post sent to your home address that you'll need to deal with

UCAS are pretty clear that you need to be home during Clearing to ring uni's and talk to them yourself. What course are you applying for? Remember that not all courses and not all universities interview.

Advertising at the University of the Arts, London. The Uni usually holds interviews for 'creative' subjects, which require portfolios ..I'm not sure whether this would be considered as one.

Never mind, having had the bad news that you need to attend, the good news is that clearing doesn't start until August.
