I am currently trying to make essay plans for part of my revision, but i am struggling to come up with enough ideas for this question - How far do you agree that the use of repression was the main reason for the weakness of opposition to Tsarism in the years 1881-1914 ? Does anyone have any ideas ?

I would talk about the disorganization of the 1905 revolution, the arguments between the liberals and the SR's and the Social Democratic party which split into Bolsheviks and Monesheviks in London, I would talk also about Stolypin and his brutal use of the Black Hundreds to chase down and kill revolutionaries. Finally I would talk about the loyalty of the army and it's role in crushing the failed revolution in the Moscow riots which left over 1000 dead. You could I suppose also say that because of Stolypins appeasing of the masses through emancipation of the serfs so they could be free to move around.
