my bf has lent me his sleeping mat which he said was an inflating one. it was a tiny bit up but mainly flat all night.

Well it depends on the mat. Is it an air filled one with a pump? Electric?

Blow into it or use a pump if it is manual
Edit: Some are self-inflating!

if its a thermarest style self inflating one... undo the valve and leave it a few minutes. it'll self inflate, blow a few breaths of air into it to get it firm, then close the valve again.Last edited by didgeridoo12uk; 12-04-2011 at 20:14.

If it started off inflated, but ended up flat during the night, have you considered the possibility that it may have a puncture?

Like a sex doll; blow it.
