    You've created a semantic paradox: if I elect not to 'wait around' then it will be because, having adequately accounted for all "situational" variables (e.g. prospect of imminent demise should I remain in Libya), the person is not worth waiting for – though not necessarily devoid of worth for that. Conversely, if I judge them to be worth waiting for then logically I must wait for them, subject to a periodic review of my circumstances (as might reasonably appertain to such a scenario).

    Rather than framing this abstractly, you'd probably have been better off divulging the specifics of your own predicament and then inviting us to deliberate over which verdict ought to apply in your case.
