    hi man
i train in taekwondo as part of the university club
used to do MMA before i started uni but thought id try something new
the uni also has karate, jiu jitsu, and kung fu clubs

There is the Preston Martial Arts Centre which is right opposite the student union. Think it has muay thai, aikido, judo, and jiu jitsu classes

theres also a place about 20(ish) minutes from preston town centre called Red Kite martial arts...or something along those lines.
Think it does muay thai and mma there but im not too sure

Either way, there is quite a lot going on

    Hope this helps :]

    Thanks, man!

I'm not really interested in Uni's stuff and most traditional martial arts. I'm looking more for kickboxing, boxing, muay-thai, wrestling and BJJ, and if possible - MMA. I'm definitely going to check out that Red Kite club, found it on Google!

Thanks again. If there's any more, please let me know. Cheers!

    Hi

I do Krav Maga in Fulwood. Have a look at the website, details are on there. Not officially a 'martial art' I suppose but a lot of people class it swith MMA

    Hi Powka

There is also a full time gym near 53 degrees doing Kickboxing & wing chun. Well kitted out, regular classes & the main thing affordable

The University has Karate, traditional Ju Jitsu, Kung Fu and Taekwondo clubs. I train in the Karate and Ju Jitsu and it's very well formulated. Plus, the classes are included for free in your annual gym membership.

There are two Muay Thai places that I know of, one is Red Kite Muay Thai across from 53 degrees, and the other is Shor Chana's Muay Thai school, near Warehouse.

Preston Martial Arts Centre across from 53 also hosts Aikido, Iaido, Wing Chun, Ju Jitsu, and MMA.

    The MMA is Thursday 6-7.

There is also a very good Krav Maga school in Fulwood, but you have to do a "starter" course.

I didn't realise there were this many different opportunities to learn martial arts in Preston, I start Uclan in september and have a great interest in martial arts, the wing chun classes at the martial arts centre look good, I have no formal experience of wing chun but I do hope to start asap once I'm at the uni. Bit of a long shot but does anyone know if there is a decent systema class in or around preston? I would be willing to travel a little bit if neccessary. Also are there many people that train in small groups outside of the formal classes? I like regular classes but I find it beneficial to train more than my wallet allows. Cheers guys, Craig.
