So now the question isn't whether Iain Gray will be FM but whether he'll even be Labour leader After such a crushing defeat his head must surely be close to the block.

He has just managed to scrape his own seat by 151 votes and has led his party to their worst Scottish election result for 80 years.

    He's finished.

    Not exactly a surprise though.

I went to my NHS doctor's surgery to see an NHS doctor who gave me a prescription which I didn't pay for.

Sometimes socialised healthcare can be ... okay.

How does that work, it costs £7.40 per prescription (where I live anyway) or are you elsewhere? :holmes:

It's pretty depressing that turn-out of between 35-50% is considered to be a really good result. In the ward next to mine it was 26%. It doesn't matter which electoral system you have if people don't turn out and vote, the candidate in that ward was actually elected by only 9.8% of people who live in that area.

There were 25,000 votes in the Elected Mayor referendum but the borough has a population of over 94,000 people. A quarter of people. Pretty shameful.

Some good things to take away from today:

The BNP lost 9 of the 11 candidate they had up for re-election.
Respect lost the 2 candidates they had up for re-election.

    So .. yeah. :yy:
