The 1980s had some amazing music. Modern music, on the whole, sucks.

There were a few good 90s songs, the majority sucked but were awesome at the same time.

    love 90's music.

Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Supergrass, Ocean Colour Scene, Feeder, Embrace, Lightning Seeds and that's just the 90's bands I like off the top of my head. oh, and the second Stone Roses album.

not to mention the best band ever, The Manic Street Preachers

I kind of like modern music. You've got to go far beyond the populist chart crap, but there's some great stuff.

The 1980's had some of the most over produced, overly-synthetic music just because that was all the manufacturers of digital synths could do - it was all "ooh, new and shiny, must have it even if it's nothing compared to what we have already!"; long live 70's analogue synths and crisp guitar tones. See below on modern music.

    Radiohead - Creep
    Oasis - Champagne Supernova
    Massive Attack - Teardrop
    Primal Scream - Loaded
    Blur - Song 2
    Fugees - Killing Me Softly
    Cornershop - Brimful of Asha

Can't think of any other 90's songs that were great tbh.

And a lot of modern music has the same pathetically **** beat over and over again with some prick saying a few words over the top, or speaking quickly... Some annoying woman with a digitally edited voice swearing away or some other nonsense.

There were quite a few good 1980s songs that I rather enjoy... Modern music on the whole isn't that great...The 1980s, 1970s, 1960s... had some great music.

"My blood hound instincts must have hunted them down whilst my other parts were throbbing to Duran Duran" << Ahh Zap Brannigan.

That's just you going off the charts though. And I agree, chart music for the past decade has been, on the whole, crap. But look into stuff that doesn't get into the charts/Radio 1 and there is some truly fantastic stuff.
