    I was just wondering what is the advantage of E Z isomerism other cis trans why would you use one or the other?

    E Z is the most modern form i think and it's most widely accepted

    For cis/trans descriptions you need two groups on the alkene to be the same, E/Z is more general and can be used to assign configurations of all double bonds regardless of the groups
