    i got a B in my maths a-level, i am already in my first year uni, but i want to resit a couple of modules to get an A. i did my exams with edexcel.
    how can i do this?

    call up a school and see if they offer external candidates sitting exams and sit the exam as a private candidate

    This seems an odd plan. Don't you have uni exams to concentrate on? No employer will care about your A Level grades but they will take an interest in your degree class.
