I do work out, but I have absolutely no idea what those terms mean because I have a program made for me which I stick to.

They are the trendy (pretty men) terms that some people use to make themselves seem like they are in the know.

I don't know the terms and to be honest, no-one needs to know the terms. It doesn't actually affect your work-out in anyway. You'll find the average person hasn't heard most of those terms. Weighlifters for example, as he mentioned it in the post, don't sit down and think, "Hmm... am i going to do Hypertrophy Specific Training or High Volume Training? Oh, i don't know. *cries*". These are terms used by people who study the area.

guys voting HST - do you actually mean the proper HST? as in 3 times a week, 1 or 2 sets per muscle, increasing weight every time and decreasing reps?

at the moment i don't feel like lifting a great deal, so i'm doing some experimental body-weight workouts.

high intensity training is what it says on the tin. basically lifting a certain weight to failure during an exercise.

hypertrophy specific training is training specifically for muscle cell growth.

periodization is a method of changing and alternating training loads to produce best performance for a specific event.

powerlifting is lifting specifically for strength and not size using the main three compound movements of bench press, deadlift and squats.

high volume training is like it says - high volume.

im not sure what westside training is, i think its training in certain variations of the exercise in certain ways? no idea.

free-hand training would be training using just hand exercises like pushups, chins, situps etc.

this thread only really covers strength and muscle growth forms of working out. im sure there are alot (probably most) of males and females on here who do different types of working out like cardiovascular, so perhaps you should of also included it in the poll.

yeah I was thinking that, I do Irish dancing as a form of exercise and free hand training and maybe dancing in general should have been added - maybe a new poll is needed......xoxo
