It's such a good album my record has actually been worn out because I listen to it so much. I think 'The Only Living Boy In New York' is my favourite track, I feel like that sometimes, I like to pretend I'm The Only Living Boy in Norwich sometimes. :awesome:
Yes that's another of my favourites. Fun fact: it's written about Garfunkel going to film Catch 22, back when he wanted to be a 'movie star'. Frank Lloyd Wright is also written about Garfunkel, basically Paul saying 'so long' to him (so I've heard )

I've recently come around to 'Why Don't You Write Me'- never particularly like it before. The live version on the 1969 album is good

You won't have heard of these, so give them a go:

Dikta: Andartak/Hunting for Happiness/ Get it Together

In my opinion they get better from right to left. Apparently they're really popular in Iceland I just heard some of their stuff on the plane and thought I'd look into it. They're not too shabby.

    Other than that:
    Biffy Clyro: Puzzle/Only Revolutions
Sigur Ros: anything. Takk or Agaetis Byrjun are good places to start
    Alex Lifeson: Victor
    Rush: Snakes and Arrows

Just some that I've listened to recently that I haven't heard other people talk about much (with the exception of only revolutions. Puzzle always gets overlooked though )

Homeward Bound was written on a station platform in Widnes when Paul Simon missed the last train back to see his girlfriend in Essex.

    Bruce Springsteen- The Rising
    Lissie-Catching a Tiger

No way! I think AHMS is their best album, Eyes Open is third after Final Straw. Each to their own, I guess.

Twilight of the Thunder God - Amon Amarth
    Moving Pictures - Rush
    Agaetis Byrjun - Sigur Ros
A Night at the Opera - Blind Guardian

Obvious stuff like Sgt Pepper/Revolver by the Beatles if you haven't heard it already (surely everyone's listened to those two albums though right)/Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd as well. Also yes to mentions of Amplifier and Porcupine Tree, definitely listen to Deadwing by the latter and Fear of a Blank Planet too.

Aww no man, Holy Mountain is just the finest stoner imaginable. It's a great doom album aswell, but that just makes it better as far as I'm concerned.

I will recommend; Sh*tmat - Killababylonkutz. The finest critique of Ragga and Junglism evarrr :h:
