I hate it when i find myself in situations where my friends don't want see the movie i'm dying to see or have already been, or go with their girlfriends or for whatever reason, i'm alone in wanting to see it. Well once again, this situation has arisen, the movie Scream 4 is coming out and really want to see it. I'm a huge fan of the franchise and can't wait to see the 4th. So what do i do? Pass and end up being rather miserable that i didn't see it or go on my own to see it?

    Your thoughts and views?

I know it's proably be sad and the person serving me the one ticket at the counter will probably laugh thinking "what a loser", but hey, perhaps it's worth it?

All you are doing is sitting in the dark, in silence, watching a film. Perfect thing to do alone. I am perfectly happy in my own company and if no-one else wants to come with, I will go alone.

When I start caring what strangers think, then I know its time to get a life.

Go on your own. The cashier guy won't know whether you're waiting for someone or whatever. When I see someone on their own at the cinema I don't think anything of it, and my friend goes on her own regularly and feels fine about it

Yeah I would! I've been to gigs on my own and that's a lot weirder. Usually you can find someone to go with to the cinema though,it's not that hard is it?

I doubt people on the counter will care tbh, i've seen plenty of people go alone to see movies and they seem happy enough

I work in a cinema selling tickets (box office) and generally, I don't care whether you come in by yourself or not. I do, unfortunately make you repeat "1 ticket please" to make sure you are not buying additional tickets. Sorry.

I always go to the Cinema alone. I have alots of friends however I prefer to just go when I fancy it rather than organising it.

Its better seeing movies in the cinema yourself.

If you have facebook, post it as your status inviting anyone to come along. Most of my friends do that and that one person ends up going in a group.

Yes. There's nothing wrong with going to the cinema and out to other places by yourself. :ninja:

When I worked at the cinema, there were lots of people that went to the counters to get tickets/food/drinks on their own - no one will think anything of it.

Seriously, I doubt any of the staff will judge you on it. If you want to see the film, do it!

I've been to the cinema alone quite a few times. There's no shame in it and nobody cares, it's not like you're sitting in a strip club alone or clubbing alone trying to score.

Watching films is a silent activity (in a cinema, at least - if you're having a quiet night in at a friend's with a DVD then not so much) and there's little social aspect to it, so I don't see how going alone is that big an issue because it's not as if you'll be talking to each other during the film itself. Same reason why going to the cinema often isn't recommended for a first date.

I am exactly the same I love all the Scream films, and luckily this time my friend wants to come with me. I was prepared to go by myself, at the end of the day I say it does not matter, who cares? Enjoy your life to be honest, sometimes doing things by yourself shows you are an indepedent person, like me I love shopping on my own because I get things done and go to the shops I like And have fun watching the film

Yes, I don't see why not. If I go with someone I don't talk to them when the film is showing anyway.

Even if the person behind the counter did have these thoughts it shouldn't deter you from going to see the movie. Try not to worry so much about what other people think of you. They would have forgotten you within minutes of selling you a ticket anyway.

    I would
I was stood up once so decided to go by myself. Ended up being chatted up by a lad at the tills so it was a win win for me! I personally like the company of friends though, so if I had to choose between friends and the company of myself, I'd prefer to go with others. If I was in your position, I would just go by myself (p.s, If I was old enough and knew you, I would go see that film with you!) x

I don't really see it as a big deal. If you want to go and watch a film then go alone, it's not like sitting in a dark room is much of a socialising event. If people do care or find it weird then so what - that's their problem. You'll never see them again in your life most likely and by the next day they would have forgotten about it as people are usually too wrapped up in their own lives to care about others. So go for it!
